PROGRESSIVE LIBERAL PARTY STATEMENT

ON

THE PASSING OF THE LATE CLEOPHAS A. ADDERLEY SR.

OCTOBER 18, 2001

The Progressive Liberal Party extends its profound condolences on the passing of the Late Cleophas A. Adderley Sr. Former Member of Parliament for the Nassau City Constituency from 1967 to 1977.

Mr. Adderley succeeded Sir Stafford Sands (UBP) who resigned from the House of Assembly following the Progressive Liberal Party’s victory on January 10, 1967.He always boasted that he resided in the Constituency that he was privileged to represent for ten years.

Mr. Adderley was a gentleman who contributed to the enhancement of the two party system which strengthened the tenets and spirit of our Bahamian democracy.A product of Cat Island, he was proud of his Bahama Land.

Mr. Adderley made his mark in his chosen profession as a successful Three Phase Electrical Contractor and played a role in training Bahamians in his field of endeavour.

We extend our sympathies to his wife, Debbie and all of his children among whom is Cleophas Adderley Jr. the internationally acclaimed Director of the Bahamas National Youth Choir.

May his soul rest in peace!
